I Won’t Be Green

When I come on the scene,

I won’t be green

But like one has endure the dark nights

Of doubting days and little light

I’ve learn never to perish in pity’s plight

But to find my faith and continue to fight

I won’t be green

When I come on the scene

But like one who has passed depression’s test

Of pain, despair, and duress

I’ve learned that there’s no over night success

You must feel the pressure, but continue to press

I won’t be green

When I come on the scene

But like one who has survived divisive schemes

Of no self-worth and low self-esteem

I’ve learned to dream my dreams

And to believe in love unseen

I won’t be green

When I come on the scene

Now to the world, the universe, and everything in between Behold my arrival, I’m no longer green

But blessed, confident, and thankful

I step on the scene.
