A Memory Etched In Glass

By Jennifer Coissiere

Dedicated to Ms. A. Snead

Many special people,

Past throughout our lives.

But there is none greater,

Than a teacher.

Whether we are the parent, the student

A family member, a friend

The person worth remembering

Is the teacher,

Who took the time, the effort

To give me praises and reprimands.

The constant acknowledgement,

Of how much better we can be,

If we believed in ourselves

As they believed in me.

Not many teachers

Can claim this precious gift.

A gift that has been etched,

Into my eternal glass

That I call my life.

Each day that goes by

And every year

That I open my eyes

A little wider than they were before

To the world’s hatred and poverty

And the difference between rich and poor

I will think of you.

You are a gem,

That dazzles and sparkles

Whether day or night.

A supporter

Of what is and is to come

For me

This is no dream

But my reality.
