Impasse

© 2006 Ethelene W. (Kitty) Brown

This anti-Semitic

Word-war

Taunts and teases

toe-to-toe

until the first missile

finds its target.

We have become the

sounding slats of

unreasoned logic,

scrambled like a well

turned omelet.

Blinded by custom’s grip,

warriors goose-step

through generations of

religious relics –

holdovers

sown

from Abraham’s seed,

Their

chains of thought

shackled and bolted down,

the key thrown away.

The world waits, as

each side hikes down the

road to the

cadence of ancient

ancestral pipers.

They claim their superior

rights while their children

carry swords

and die.
