 PIECES OF ME

In an effort to matter,
I scatter bits and pieces to the wind...
Little jigsaw pieces of self.

Compassion, strength, support, forgiveness ---
North, south, east, west ---

Whirling in all directions,
An exhausting cyclone of spirit propels fragments to flight
In search of purpose.

Where will the wind carry me?
Will the seeds of spirit find fertile soil in receptive hearts,
Or, rather, fall aimlessly onto barren ground?

Will such divine dissection leave me more complete?
Or, like Humpty, will I need the King's men
To put me back together?

Baffling, mysterious, beautiful ---
Somber, challenging, euphoric ---

Life is an intricate, artful quest,
A puzzle of a million pieces and then some...
Perhaps best left to the hands of a "Master."

"From him the whole body,
Joined and held together by every supporting ligament,
Grows and builds itself up in love,
As each part does its work."*
