FOOD FOR THE MULTITUDE

Jesus went by ship looking for solitude,

But was followed on foot by a great multitude.

Thinking it not a rude intrude,

But, amazed by such fortitude,

Put Him in quite a beatitude.

He taught them with much aptitude,

Then healed their sick promptitude.

As the day began to preclude,

The disciples sometimes being crude,

Urged Jesus to send away the brood,

To buy their own selves some food.

But, Jesus being of another mood,

Himself being sometimes shrewd,

Came to quite a different conclude.

He told them," No need for interlude,

You, yourselves give them some food."

Then they pondered their place of seclude,

A desert place of no seafood,

A barren place of no fast-food!

Do I detect an attitude?

Were they about to come unglued?

Philip asked," Wherewith shall we feed this magnitude?"

Then, Jesus asked," What do we have exactitude?"

Andrew replied, with much certitude,

"Five barley loaves and two small fish from one little dude,

But, surely it's not plenitude!"

Jesus spoke with correctitude,

"Have them sit down and be subdued."

He gave thanks for the loaves with much gratitude.

Then gave them to the disciples to exude,

To the crowd with expectant attitude.

Also, with the fish, similitude.

When they were satisfied in their amplitude,

Jesus said," Take up what's left in quietude,

As this adventure we conclude.

Then give it all to the little dude,

Lest we be in ingratitude,

Who's lunch became vastitude,

To feed the hungry multitude!"

Then Jesus arose and went to a higher altitude,

Seeking, once again, solitude!!
