Open

A small white ball, sticking under, but hanging on.

Open

Squeezing out of my confinement; Slimy

slowly crawling and breaking out.

Open

My world is small, all I see is green,

I hear the cries and feel the wind, but I am not ready to be

Open

Here is my time.

Building for preparation; here is my time to learn and become,

Open.

Closed in again.

Wrapped up so tight, I feel myself changing.

Here is my transformation; my time is now!

Open!

Open up to the world, but now I see differently.

A change of perspective, a change of life,

Open.

New experiences, feelings, sights;

now I spread my wings to fly.

Open

All these pretty colors and sturdy legs to land on.

Gone is the sliminess of the past; life on the green, just hanging on and being alone.

For now I am

Open.

Spread my wings and see the world.

I will enjoy the view and things to come,

but I will not forget what has been done.

I started out feeling insignificant and small,

(I started out as a little white ball.)

I grew and ate

( crawling along I prepared for my date).

I used to see things bottom to top,

but now I can see everything from where it drops.

My perspective changed when I began to fly,

I am now Open.

- life as told by a butterfly
